Henry Edgar Murray, 92, husband of Patricia L. Murray, died Sunday, June 18, 2017.

Born in Axson, GA, he was a son of the late Alice and William Murray.

Henry served as a Corporal in the US Army during WWII. He fought proudly at Saint-Lo and the Battle of the Bulge after D-Day. He retired from the US Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC. He was an ordained deacon in the Church of God of Prophecy and a member of Zion Assembly Church of God. Henry was a phenomenal story teller and was known by his family and friends as the wise old owl. He loved to play the guitar and sing gospel music.

Surviving in addition to his wife of thirteen years, one daughter, Andrea Faye Davis (Eddie); five stepchildren, Ralph Dixon (JoAnn), Donna Sorrell (Jim), Patty Bearden (Dennis), Sandra Wilkins and Bobby Dixon; three grandchildren, Clyde Davis, Jr., Becky Hensley (Brian) and Jimmy Davis (Becky); fourteen step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Keitha Butler (Jimmy), Amy Hensley, Adam Davis (Sunday), Trevor Davis, Christina Davis and Hannah Davis; seventeen step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters, Amaya Hensley, Aliyah Long and Jade Davis.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of sixty one years, Lula D. Murray; six sisters; and five brothers.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Davis.
