MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. Howard Arthur Bright, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2016, at his home in Martinez, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in 1925 in Columbus, GA to Mr. Henry Leroy and Mrs. Annie Bright. He served in the U.S. Navy, then graduated from the University of Georgia, with a Master's Degree in Psychology. Most of his professional career was with the State of Georgia in Vocational Rehabilitation services and the Area Agency on Aging. His parents and siblings predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (married 71 years), who is at home; his daughters, Renee Miller (Pat), Cassie Jackson (Chuck), Denise Howard (Ricky-deceased) and Shelley Leclair (Eddie); ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Howard was a very devoted father and grandfather whose family especially appreciated his intelligence, wit, singing, and storytelling. He taught his children to be responsible, honest, considerate, and respectful, and he made sure they had fun! He will be surely missed! The family would like to thank the many dedicated caregivers who have helped Howard and Mildred over the past few years. A celebration of his life will be held at the home of Denise Howard on Saturday, August 13 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Eau Claire Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC at 2:00 p.m. on August 14, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who desire to make a donation in his memory to Eau Clair Presbyterian Church at 629 Wildwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29203 (at the corner of Monticello Rd. and Wildwood Ave.).
