MITCHELL, Ga. - On May 24, 2016, Hubert Lewis Pulliam of Mitchell, Georgia, moved to his heavenly home. He was 87. Mr. Pulliam was born to the late Alma Clifton Pulliam and the late Melba Lundy Pulliam. Mr. Pulliam was the founder and CEO of Pulliam Lumber Company. He was also a farmer. He was a beloved husband, father and "DinDin." He was devoted to his family, church and community. Mr. Pulliam was a member and deacon at Mill Creek Baptist Church. He also served on the Glascock County Board of Education and the Mitchell City Council. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and playing his guitar. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Snider Pulliam; a son, Wayne Pulliam (Kathy), Franklin, TN; daughters, Gail Pulliam Wilcher (Rodney), Thomson, Ga., Glenda Pulliam Lamb (Scott), Mitchell, Ga., and Lynn Pulliam, Mitchell, Ga.; one sister, Francis Pulliam Tilman; three brothers, Tommy Pulliam, Bobby Pulliam and Earl Pulliam; seven grandchildren, Haywood Pulliam (Loree), Kristin Pulliam, Kimberly Pulliam Hawkins (James), Adam Wilcher (Heather), Brock Wilcher (Diane), Joshua Lamb and Aaron Lamb, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pulliam was predeceased by his sister, Helen Pulliam Downs, and 3 brothers, Clifton Pulliam, James Pulliam and Lewis Pulliam. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mill Creek Baptist Church on Friday, May 27th, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Mitchell City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Mill Creek Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mill Creek Baptist Church is located at 6252 Mill Creek Church Road, Mitchell, Georgia 30828. The family would like to thank his loving caregivers: Nancy Thomas, Candy Clay, Connie Jackson, Willie Shorter, Dr. Samuel Macomson and the staff at Georgia Regional Medical Center.
