AUGUSTA, Ga. - J. Edward Carns, 74, a resident of Augusta, GA passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Rose View Center, Williamsport, PA. Born October 27, 1941 in Clearfield, PA, Ed was the son of James and Vivian Latice Braniff Carns. Ed married the former Barbara Lou Read on April 23, 1960 and together they shared 56 years of marriage. A graduate of Clearfield High School Class of 1959, Ed served his country in the Army Reserves. He was a life member of the Clearfield Elks 540, a past president of the Augusta Shrine Club and Golf Unit and Alee Temple, Savannah, GA. He was also a past president of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 810. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at Peekaboo Lodge in Clearfield and being with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Ed (Julee) Carns, II of Boyertown, PA, Jennifer (Fred) Lorson of Montoursville, PA, JoEllen Andrews of Augusta, GA and Jeff (Carrie) Carns, of North Augusta, SC; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter Leea Stansberry. A memorial service to honor the life of Ed will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Hephzibah United Methodist Church, 4431 Brothersville Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815 with Rev. Dr. Gale Seibert, officiating. Burial will be private in Brothersville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
