AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Brinson, Jr., 71, entered rest on Saturday, February 16, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11: 00 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, Ga. with Reverend Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Jr., officiating. Interment will be at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Brinson will lie in state one hour before the ceremony. James received his high school diploma from Lucy Craft Laney High School. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education and Health Sciences from Allen University, Columbia, South Carolina and completed further study at the University of Georgia; Athens, Georgia .He taught school and coached in the Richmond County School System. He later worked as a counselor in social services at the Youth Development Center. After retirement he worked at Thermal Ceramics and S&S Cafeteria. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was an athlete participating in football and track and field events while attending school. He played football with the Augusta Eagles Team, a Dixie Football League Semi-Professional Team. He enjoyed his family, friends and several hobbies. James leaves to cherish his fondest memories: His loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Geneva L. Brinson: three lovely children, James Lambert Brinson, Leslie Geneen Brinson and Andrea Geneva Brinson (Tyson) Riley; five adorable grandchildren, Tyson Omar Riley II, Geneva Carolyn Riley, Olivia Gabrielle Riley, Noah Lambert Riley and Jasmine Shanice Brinson, also an adopted grandson; Mikeem Gaines, all of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Rev Willie A. (Willie Mae) Green, Augusta Ga., one sister, Rev. Julia E. Wise, Augusta, Ga.: one uncle, Johnny C. Jones of Augusta Ga.; four sisters- in-law, Shirley L. (George) Gause, Deloris L. (Elijah) Brown of Marion, S.C., Elease G. Brinson, Georgia C. Green of Augusta, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. W. H.
