Jones EVANS, Ga. - James Wiley Jones "Jim", born October 9, 1952, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert O. Jones, and is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Hall Jones; his son, Rodney Paschal (Susan); his daughter, Stephanie Paschal Robinson (Sam); his grandsons, Sam and Benjamin Robinson, and James and Jack Paschal; and his sister, Mary Lou Jones Chapman. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 1:00 PM from Wesley United Methodist Church, Evans, GA, with Reverend Greg Porterfield officiating. Inurnment will follow in Wesley Gardens. A graduate of East Henderson High School (1970), Jim earned a BS degree from Western Carolina University (1974.) Upon graduation, he joined the accounting firm of Peat, Marwick & Mitchell (Greensboro, NC.) After five years there, Jim joined Duke University (Durham, NC) as accountant and later Chief Financial Director. In 2005, he moved to Augusta to accept a position as Chief Financial Officer for Georgia Regents University. He took early retirement because of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) which he battled courageously for three years. At the time of his death, he was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he had been active in Sunday School and numerous mission outreach ministries of the church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Journey Sunday School Class. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
