"Jimmy" HARLEM, Ga. - James "Jimmy" Greene McNair, Sr., 79, beloved husband of 60 years of Clara Hollimon McNair, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the University Hospital of Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hee Chul Park, the Rev. Charles Broome, and Chaplain Alan Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. A native of Columbia County, Mr. McNair was an Air Force Veteran and served nine years in the Air Force Reserves. He was a retired local driver for Yellow Freight with over 22 years of service where he was known as "Old Yellow". He was an avid woodworker and loved country music. Mr. Jimmy played the autoharp and the harmonica. He was a lifelong member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for over 20 years. He loved his church family and spending time in the mountains and on Tybee Island. Mr. Jimmy never met a stranger and his philosophy was "Some folks got it, some ain't". He had it. Survivors include his wife Clara H. McNair; two sons, James Jim Greene McNair, Jr. (Deborah) and Jeffrey "Jeff" Glenn McNair (Gena); one daughter, Marie Christine McNair (Wayne C. Jackson); one brother, William "Billy" McNair (Peggy); eight grandchildren, Brandon James McNair (Alicia), John Luke McNair, Amanda Claire Jackson (Robby Powell), Jackson Still McNair, Sam Carpenter, John Thomas Kitchens (Stephanie), Rebecca Gail Zipperer (Herman), and Timothy Andrew Kitchens (Nickie); great-grandchildren, Gabby Riley, Giuilianna McNair, Seth Zipperer, Cohen Zipperer, Joseph Kitchens, Jeremiah Kitchens, Sarah Kitchens, Ashlyn, Madison and Landen. He was preceded in death by his brother, the late Robert "Bobby" McNair. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Youth Fund, 780 Old Louisville Road, Harlem, GA 30814. Pallbearers will be Brandon McNair, John Luke McNair, Dennis Gunby, Jimmy Young, Joe Flono, Hughley Mays, and John Thomas Kitchens.
