LOUDON, Tenn. - Purdy, J. Janice (Huffine) age 90 of Loudon, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at Life Care of Collegedale surrounded by her daughters who said: Mom is in the arms of Jesus. She was there when we took our first breath and we were there when she took her last. Jan was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she could be often found working in the kitchen serving others. In 1949 she began working with Drs. Tom and Corrie Blair McPeake in their Loudon clinic where she stayed until their retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Bonnie (Bisplinghoff) Huffine; husband, John N. "Junior" Purdy; son in-law, Gary McAlister; brothers, Bill, Bobby and Herbert Huffine ; sisters, Mary Faye Hughes, Betty Mosier and Margaret Wyatt. Survivors include daughters and son in-law, Linda and Joseph Faulkner, Augusta, Ga., Nancy McAlister, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Brandie Bodlien Rozier, Jessica Bodlien Oliver and Rebecca Campbell Rutter; great grandchildren, Noah Rutter, Ava and Levi Rozier; brother, Charles and Glen Huffine, sister, Kathleen Hutsell, all of Oak Ridge. Services honoring and remembering Jan Purdy will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, graveside in New Steekee Cemetery with Rev. Richard Everett officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent and loving care shown their mother beginning at River Oaks, Loudon and at Life Care of Collegedale and the wonderful people with Amedysis. Contributions of Jan may be made to the First Baptist Church, 413 Wharf St., Loudon, TN 37774 or to Amedysis, 7205 Lee Hwy, Suite B, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
