MILLEN, Ga. - Mr. J.C. (Jimmie) Douglas entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2016. He resided in Millen, with his wife Ellen, for approximately 60 years. For 28 years, he served as County Agent for Jenkins County, under the auspices of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. He held numerous civic affiliations, including 12 years of service on the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners (chairman for 5 years). He was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and treasurer. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Ellen Hopson Douglas; a host of loving relatives, extended family, and devoted friends. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the J.C. Douglas Memorial Scholarship Fund, Savannah State University. The endowment was established in 2014 to assist students who exemplify the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and community service. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Zion Baptist Church (1068 Old Sylvania Road) - Millen, Georgia. Viewing will be held noon - 6:00 on Tuesday; 9:00 - noon on Wednesday.
