Lumpkin WADLEY, Ga. - Mrs. Joan Head Lumpkin, 80, resident of Wadley, Georgia, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Lumpkin was born in Rome, Georgia, daughter of the late Reverend Russell and Sadie Lanham Head. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Donald F. Lumpkin; brother, Frank Head; sister, Jewel Head Otting; and great-granddaughter, Annie Walden. Joan had worked as a nurse until her retirement. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera, Georgia. Funeral services for Mrs. Lumpkin will be held Monday afternoon, November 7, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Sunday evening between the hours of 5 and 7 P.M. Survivors include her children: David Lumpkin, Sharon Tomlinson (Ken), Tim Lumpkin (Lisa), and Russ Lumpkin (Melanie); grandchildren: Jennifer Dixon (Jason), Jonathan Lumpkin, Randy Miller (Andrea), Charlie Miller (Kelley), Kay Knight (Ben), Lindsay Claxton (BJ), Amy Walden (Anson), Brian Lumpkin (Mollie), Rachel Rowse (Jarred), Addie Lumpkin and Will Lumpkin; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Daniel and Levi Dixon, Joe and Sam Miller, Chelsey, Caroline and Bennett Miller, Audrey Knight and Ellis Claxton; sister: Jean Barnes (Talmadge), and many nieces and nephews.
