MARTINEZ, Ga. - On February 5, 2014 Joe Owens (78) entered eternally into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Joe had 2 open heart surgeries with the last one being on November 18, 2007, as he laid in a medical coma, with his chest opened up for several days, God Almighty gave Joe a miracle, when a chest x-ray revealed an emblem of a cross in his heart area. Joe went back to work and worked until his last day on earth, when his heart stopped. Joe served 6 years in the United States Air Force, retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 years, retired from J-J, Mid South as an over the road truck driver with 29 years of service. He was currently driving a school bus for the C.C.B.O.E. and had not missed a day of work this year. Joe is survived by 2 nieces, Cathy Masterson and Rose Hiatt and 2 nephews, William and John Owens; special neighbors, David and Sandra Givens; his Living Waters Church family; his Flying Knights team #1 bus drivers, and the #1359 Waffle House crew of Evans, Georgia. Homecoming celebration will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Living Waters Church at 4:00.
