LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Joey A. McGill, 60, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at University Hospital McDuffie in Thomson, GA. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Tripp Goodwin and Dr. William F. Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincolnton City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Simmons, Mickey Jacobs, Ozzie Quinn, Hal Riddle, Hillyer Wright and Walt McDonald. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the T.E.L. Sunday School Class, Lincolnton Baptist Church Deacons and Brotherhood. Mr. McGill was the son of the late Walter Collins McGill and the late Lois Hudson McGill. He was a faithful member of Lincolnton Baptist Church where he served as teacher of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class and as a deacon. He was employed with South Carolina Electric & Gas and was a cattle farmer. A loving husband and father, Joey will be greatly missed by his family. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy Shepherd McGill; one son, Chase Shepherd McGill and wife, Caitlyn of Molena, GA.; a much anticipated grandson, Asher Tate McGill, due in July; two brothers, Walter McGill and wife, Sue of Alpharetta, GA., and A.C. McGill and wife, Georgia of Lincolnton; three sisters, Colleen McGill Gaines of Johns Creek, GA., Donna McGill of Lynchburg, VA. and Mary McGill of Washington, GA.; two special aunts, Betty McGill of Snellville, GA. and Inez McWhorter of Lincolnton; and numerous other family members.
