APPLING, Ga. - Mr. John Daniel Eubank, age 99, husband of the late Mrs. Adelia Wilbanks Eubank, celebrating 61 years of marriage before her death, entered into rest Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Damascus Baptist Church with Dr. David Stockton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Eubank was an active member of Damascus Baptist Church of Appling, Georgia, attending since his birth in 1915. He served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee, and Treasurer. He was an active supporter of Youth Ministries and Missions. He served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was the founder and owner of Eubank Country Real Estate Company. Mr. Eubank was responsible for developing several of the rural subdivisions in the Appling Community. He always loved and enjoyed his land and encouraged his family to also. Mr. Eubank was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and life in the country. After his retirement he took up gardening and would often bring bags of vegetables or fruit to friends at church on Sunday. He was frequently interviewed by reporters for various events including having voted in every election since the age of 18 up until the age of 98, his World War II service, growing and drying apples, and even reporting on a tornado that touched down in the Leah Community. He was a wonderful story teller and recorded many stories of growing up in Leah and his hunting and fishing experiences. These have been passed down so that generations to come will know of their heritage. He was a great provider, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Family members include daughters, Diane E. Buchter (Dr. David Holden) of McCormick, SC, Susan E. DeFoor (Lloyd) of Appling, GA, Jane E. Wells (Larry) of Appling, GA; five grandchildren, Kris Brazzle (Larry), Lawson, MO, John DeFoor (Christina) of Evans, Georgia, Jefferson DeFoor (Christie), of Grovetown, GA, Matthew Wells (Lydia) of Athens, GA, Delia W. Sample (Tim) of Appling, GA; eleven great-grandchildren, Daniel Brazzle, Kendra B. Meza, Loch and Elli Beattie, Baxter DeFoor, Drew and Addie DeFoor, Sosebee and Clara Wells and Connor and Chandler Sample. He was the oldest of 9 children born to Jack and Fannie Mae Hunt Eubank. He is survived by his sisters: Julia Anderson of Appling, GA, Betty Stanley of Thomson, GA, Ann Parker (Jimmy) of Ludowici, GA, Jackie Legg (Gene) of Henderson, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Fannie Mae Eubank; his siblings, Gene Eubank, Daisy Roberts, Bill Eubank and Fran Richardson. The family expresses their love, appreciation and gratitude to Lelia Parks for her faithfulness and exemplary care shown to Mr. John and Mrs. Adelia for the past 16 years. Appreciation also goes to his other care givers, Sarah Bell White, Ruby Elam, Kerry Wiggins, Kayla Hathorn, Sabel Davis, John DeFoor, and Annie Hogan and Monique. Also we are grateful to the Alliance Hospice staff. His life verse was John 3:16: For God so loved that world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Pallbearers are Bob Anderson, Gene Anderson, Chuck Anderson, Steve Dwyer, Harold Eubank, Jack Eubank, Robert Eubank, Greg Parker, Jack Parker and Jimmy Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be the Damascus Men's Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Damascus Baptist Church, 6375 Ridge Road, Appling, GA 30802.
