AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, September 17, 2016, Mr. John Albert Hammer, Sr., 80, loving husband of 62 years to Mildred P. Hammer. John was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He and his wife owned and operated Naturalizer Footwork's for 20 years. John was a visionary and he always put his heart and soul into his business. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by many. Family members, in addition to his wife, include his children: John A. Hammer, Jr. and wife Martha, Teresa Day and husband Stephen, and Belinda Sheppard; grandchildren: Michael D. Smith, Jr., Stephen D. Day, Jr., William E. Sheppard, Jr., Brittany Maughan, Christopher Day, Haley Culver, and Kelsey Day; 6 great-grandchildren; sister: Aileen Horner; brother: William E. Hammer; many other loving family members; and his two faithful girls: Emma and Lilly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neville and Maude Hammer, and siblings, Nancy Sharp, Rev. Neville A. Hammer, Jr., and Cecil Hammer. The family would like to thanks the staff at Trinity Hospital, Dr. Daniel Boone, and Dr. Paul Cundy for their excellent care of John over the past several years. A graveside service will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Neville Allison Hammer III officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , 106 SRP Dr., Suite A, Evans, GA 30809 or to the , 190 Knox Abbott Dr., Suite 301, Casey, SC 29033.
