EVANS, Ga. - John Calvin Shaw, 86, of Evans, GA, husband of Violet Jean Shaw died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bowman, Georgia to the late John Lester and Vera Sanders Shaw. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Dennis Keith Shaw and John C. Shaw, Jr. Mr. Shaw was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired, with 37 years of service, from DuPont as a Lab Technician. Mr. Shaw will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His favorite past time was fishing and he spent many hours enjoying this sport. Surviving Mr. Shaw is his wife of sixty years of the home; a son, Tony and his wife Jenny Quarles Shaw of Alpharetta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Patrick and his wife, Corey, Harrison, Ashley and Valerie Shaw; two great-grand-daughters, Millie and Mabel Shaw, who were the light of their Papa's heart; and a dedicated and devoted friend, Robert Williams, who was always by his side. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Shaw, may be made to the , 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
