BELVEDERE, S.C. - Memorial Services for Mr. John Arthur Willem, 86, who entered into eternal life with Jesus, September 1, 2016, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. John Meyer officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. Mr. Willem was born in Burlington, IA, to the late James Albert and Genevieve Loretta Willem and was the youngest of four children. John had a beautiful voice and sang with his father, brother and a friend in a Barbershop Quartet. Mr. Willem proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Security Service in the Korean War. Following his service, John graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Iowa. Mr. Willem retired in 1995 with 35 years of service from FMC/BAE's Aiken Plant where he served as the Plant Controller. In retirement John enjoyed reading, working crossword and jumble puzzles and feeding and watching the birds. Mr. Willem attended Belvedere First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Willem was preceded in death by a brother, Philip Harold Willem; two sisters, Mary Ellen Parkinson and Shirley Poggemiller. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Gail S. Willem; a sister-in-law, Charlene Willem; a host of nieces and nephews; and his four-legged friends, Lucy and Ludwig. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Belvedere First Baptist Church, Forward in Faith Fund, P.O.
