AUGUSTA, Ga. - Minister John L. Williams entered into rest Tuesday, January 5, 2016, in the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center- Uptown. John gave his life to God at an early age, where he served faithfully at Mount Peiler Baptist Church in Starkville, Ms. After relocating to Augusta, he became a member of Broadway Baptist Church, served as a Deacon and sang in the male chorus. John felt the need to be challenged; therefore he joined the United States Army and served fourteen years. He was a positive mentor to many children. John was also a member of the Augusta Masonic District #16, King Solomon Royal Arc Masons, served as President of the NAACP-Youth Chapter in Starkville, Ms. Minister Williams leaves to cherish fond loving memories with his wife, Elaine Williams; sons, Dexter (Karrie) Williams and John L. (LaPorcha) Williams, Jr.; daughters, Christina (Virgil) Williams, Diandra S. Haynes, Jacqueline S. Williams; adopted children, Carl Williams, Kasy Williams, Travis Williams, Cody Williams, Jacob Williams, Jacqueline C. Williams; foster child, Jalie Powers; mother, Jane M. Brand; stepfather, Eddie L. Brand; brothers, James (Shelia) Williams and Raphel Brand; sisters, Annette (Charles) Brown, Ophelia Spearmon, Evelyn Williams and Kareader (Orlando) Trainer; eleven grandchildren; others relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00am, Saturday, January 9, 2016, Broadway Baptist Church, 2323 Barton Chapel Road, Augusta, with Minister Roydreakis Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens, Hephzibah, Ga. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6 to 7:00pm at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, Inc., 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. (706) 790-8858
