AUGUSTA, Ga. - CW2 (Retired) Johnnie Percy Ball, Jr., 75, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 23, 2015 at his home in Augusta, GA. Johnnie was a Deacon of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He joined the U. S. Army and retired after more than 23 years of service. Following a distinguished military career, Johnnie worked at the U.S. Post Office for ten years. He leaves to cherish his legacy a wife of 49 years, Shirlene Bennett Ball; two children, Shanda (Isaac) Ball Edwards and Johnny (Terri ) Percy Ball, III; four grandchildren, Shayla Edwards, Alisha Diane Edwards, Johnny Percy Ball IV (Jay) and Lauren Grace Ball; two brothers, James (Myrtre) Ball and Solomon (Lula Mae) Ball, Sr.; four sisters-in-law, Aretha Cross, Mae Ida Birt, Betty Roundtree and Alene (Bonnie) Walker; three brothers-in-law, Eugene Walker, Leroy (Azelma) Bennett, and Hyland (Joyce) Bennett; one aunt, Mary Johnson; and several nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Siblings preceding him in death were Elsie Johnson, Willie Lee Johnson, Velma Coleman and Mitchell Ball. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015from 5pm to 7pm at W. H. Mays Mortuary 1221James Brown Blvd. Augusta, GA 30901. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 29, 2015, 1:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Blvd. Augusta GA 30901 with the Reverend Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Jr officiating. Interment will be Friday, October 30, 2015 11:00 am at Fort Jackson National Cemetery 4170 Percival Road Columbia, SC 29229.
