EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Mr. Johnnie James (Buddy) Bowman, Sr., 95, of 71 Faulkner Mountain Road, died on Friday morning, March 27, 2015 in the University Hospital, Augusta, Ga. He was born in Edgefield County, S.C., son of the late Reverend Johnnie B. Bowman and the late Essie Lue Holmes. He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served faithful until death. He leaves to cherish and honor his life; son, Johnnie James (Joan) Bowman, Jr., Edgefield, S.C.; daughters, Julia B. Bowman, Upper Marlboro, Md, Willie Mae Bowman and Clementene (Jimmy) Behling both of Columbia, S.C., Essie (James) Nicholson, Edgefield, SC; and Margie (James) Johnson, Trenton, S.C.: stepson, Reverend Daniel (Jacquelyn) Johnson, Trenton, S.C.; stepdaughter, Brenda Robinson, Trenton, S.C.; sisters, Mary L. Peterson and Gussie L. Washington both of Edgefield, S.C., Anna M. Murray and Edith L. Mayo both of Washington, DC; 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; four Goddaughters, Marjorie Stewart, Hyattsville, Md, Frankie G. Freeman, Edgefield, S.C., Mary Jefferson, Columbia, S.C. and Jacqueline Williams, Greenwood, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Springfield Baptist Church conducted by Pastor C. Moses Myers assisted by others. The body will be placed in the church at Noon.
