JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Juanita Joyce Bradley Martindale passed away June 29, 2016 at Hospice McGraw Center in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 79 after a long battle with multiple myeloma. In addition to her 5 wonderful grandchildren and 1 beautiful great-grandchild, Juanita is survived by her husband of 58 years, Newman B. Martindale, Jr., her son Newman B. Martindale III and his wife Nicole Martindale of Atlanta, GA, and her daughter Vivynne Martindale Agrios and husband Dr. Anthony B. Agrios of Gainesville, FL. Juanita was born in Maryville, TN to Charlie and Mary Bradley. She comes from a background of army families that included many of her uncles and cousins. She spent the majority of her young life traveling from one army post to another as the daughter of an Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and graduated from high school in Heidelberg, Germany in 1954. Later she attended Carson Newman Baptist College in Jefferson, TN where she studied music and played in the band. As a young adult she lived in Augusta, GA where she worked for AT&T and served as a church organist. She served her country alongside her husband, Newman B. Martindale, Jr. who served in the American Foreign Service. She spent time in and out of the US including time in Liberia, Greece, and Washington D.C. She was active in the USO. She loved her time in the Foreign Service and often regaled her grandchildren with stories of her adventures. Juanita returned to Jacksonville with her husband on retirement where she worked for American Bank in San Marco for many years. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:00pm in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The inurnment will follow at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
