Judith F. Sutker, age 86, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, in hospice care at The Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore in Charlotte, N.C. She was born November 3, 1930 in Danville, VA to James Brantley and Vadie (DeHart) Frazier. She was the oldest of four children. Upon moving to Charlotte she began work at Scott Paper Company. In her early years she was very involved with Temple Beth El, serving on the board, and as a member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood. She was also an active member of the N.C. Association of Jewish Women, serving as their President in 1974. Later in life, she became secretary of the lower school at Charlotte Country Day School, a position she held for 20 years, and was later inducted into the Honorary Alumni Association of CCDS. She loved the students, teachers, and staff at Country Day, and considered them her second family. Judy was passionate about her own family, Judaism, and all things Carolina, especially Tar Heel basketball. She also loved returning to the Frazier and DeHart homesteads in Virginia to go fishing and hunt for antiques along the Blue Ridge Parkway. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her former husband, Stephen W. Sutker. She is survived by her son Dr. Benjamin David Sutker (Lisa), of Savannah, GA; daughter Marissa Sutker Clemmer (Joe) of Gastonia, N.C.; grandchildren Kaylah Marie Rowlatt, Peter William Rowlatt, Maxwell Nathan Sutker, and Elena Marin Sutker; brothers Franklin Frazier and J.B. Frazier; sister Andrea Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 1 pm Tuesday May 9, 2017 in the Chapel at the Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
