MILLEN, Ga. - Juel Waters Turner, age 92, passed away at Jenkins County Hospital on January 15, 2015, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark W. Turner; her parents, James Edward and Lucinda Waters; and two sisters, Mary W. Turner, and Lina W. Hunter. She was born on August 5, 1922, in Screven County and resided there with her family until she married and moved to Jenkins County. She was a member of Elam Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she was a member of Merry Makers, WMU, the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, served on many committees, and was a member of the choir for many years. She was an employee of Thompson Company for over 40 years where she retired in 1986 as Plant Manager. She was a woman of deep spiritual faith, and the life she lived portrayed that. She loved her church family, and enjoyed attending and participating in church functions. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports over the years, spending time and traveling with her family, and watching every game the Atlanta Braves played. Survivors include her daughter, Judy T. (Kirk) Rocker, a granddaughter; Cameron R. (Warren) Clements; a grandson, Mark W. Rocker; a great-granddaughter, Bowdre V. Clements; a sister, Miriam W. Gay, of Columbia, S.C.; 3 sister-in-laws, Francis Hawes, Ruth Reynolds, both of Millen, and Reesie Turner, of Williston, S.C.; several nieces, nephews, great- nieces, and great- nephews. Visitation and funeral will be Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Turner, Andy Turner, Tony Turner, Allen Turner, R.M. Hunter, Jimmy Hunter, Russ Hunter, Ray Williams, Billy Becton, and Jim Winskey. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elam Baptist Church Building and Grounds Fund, 5199 Elam Rd., Millen, GA 30442. Crowe-Fields Funeral Home of Millen in charge of arrangements.
