NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Memorial Services for Mrs. Katherine Busch Melton, 71, who entered into rest December 15, 2014, will be conducted this Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. James D. Dennis, Jr., officiating. Mrs. Melton was born in June 1943 to Wade & Donna Busch in Toccoa, Georgia and later moved to Aiken in 1952 due to the Savannah River Plant. She was a 1961 graduate Aiken High School where she played in the band and became an avid football fan, especially of the Georgia Bulldogs. Mrs. Melton accomplished her life-long goal of becoming a Registered Nurse and worked in Obstetrics until her retirement from MCG in 2000. She learned to appreciate the meaning of life and faced her struggles with faith. In 1975 she married Byron Melton, known as Sam, and they had two daughters. Mrs. Melton was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was one of the teachers of the Cokesbury Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sharing the Bible with others and seeing the difference it would make in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Mike. Survivors include her husband Byron E. Sam Melton; two daughters and a son-in-law Elizabeth M. Horton and Claire & Chris DuBose; three grandchildren, Braden Horton, CJ DuBose and Catie DuBose; a sister and Brother-in-law Joy and John Merrill; a nephew Donnie Canady.
