PHENIX CITY, Ala. - Kathryn Inez Yelton Ogletree formerly of Sparta, GA, passed away on February 4, 2015, at Phenix City Health Care, Phenix City, AL. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8 at 3 pm at Moores Funeral Home, 301 N. Wayne St., Milledgeville, GA 31061 with Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, GA. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service beginning at 2 pm. Mrs. Ogletree was born in Rutherford County, NC, daughter of Edgar Lee Yelton and Laura Morrison Yelton. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul Eugene Ogletree, two brothers, Jack Yelton, Clyde Yelton, and four sisters, Ila Y. Bartles, Ima Y. Bullard, Ethel Y. Oates, and Kate Y. Taylor. Mrs. Ogletree was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She was also excellent seamstress and made all of her grandchildren special baby blankets and gowns. Inez was an active member of Sparta Baptist Church and WMU from 1946 until 1998 when she moved with her husband to Fayetteville, GA. She served as President of Sparta Baptist WMU and Sparta Woman's Club and was an active member of many committees dedicated to improvements for the City of Sparta. She also served as Hancock County Civil Defense Director for several years. Participation in her community was very important to Inez, but her role as wife, mother and grandmother was paramount in her life. Her children and grandchildren were all fortunate to know her loving kindness and encouragement throughout their lives. Spending time with her family-especially her eight grandchildren- was her true passion. Survivors include one son, Wayne E. Ogletree of Milledgeville, GA, two daughters, Brenda O. Willis (Robert) of Columbus, GA, and Nancy O. Bush (Neal) of Sparta, GA, eight grandchildren Kelly O. Robertson (Eric) of Buford, GA, Pamela O. Vinson of Nashville, TN, Suzanne O. Sidari (Brian) of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert F. Willis III of Atlanta, Paul Brett Willis (Jaci) of Atlanta, John Hudson Bush, David Neal Bush of Fayetteville, and Thomas Paul Bush (Lauren) of Tyrone, GA, nine great- grandchildren, sister-in-law June O. Brown of Atlanta and a host of other special nieces and nephews. The Ogletree family will always be grateful to our special friends and caregivers Margaret Panter, Cindy O'Neal, Penny Hope and Bette Redden who cared for her in Fayetteville. She was blessed to have received excellent care at Phenix City Health Care from all the staff and especially Barbara Battle and Yvonne Alston. A special thanks also is extended to all Columbus Hospice Personnel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sparta Baptist Church, PO Box 428, Sparta, GA 31087.
