Mr. Larry Allen McPherson, 75, went home to be with his Lord on April 20, 2017. Mr. McPherson was born in Roswell, Georgia on June 3, 1941 to the late Horace Augustus McPherson and Mamie Sue Owen McPherson. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a brother, James Nelson McPherson. Mr. McPherson served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Tac & Sac Commands. He was the Vice President of Hartz Mountain Corporation and served as the Director of Georgia Tennessee Mining. Larry was a descendant of the 100 years of Pioneer of Cobb County.

Mr. McPherson was a father, grandfather, and a husband. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Turpin McPherson; sons, Michael Allen McPherson (Louise) of Dawsonville, GA, and Bruce Augustus McPherson (Angela) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, John Michael McPherson, Amanda Louise McPherson, Joseph Allen McPherson, Jacob Edward McPherson, Augustus Allen McPherson, and James Erich McPherson; brother, Donald Horace McPherson (Barbara); sister-in-law Barbara Foster McPherson; aunts Evelyn McPherson Hacker of Houston and Sara Foster McPherson of East Cobb as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Michael McPherson, Joseph McPherson, Jacob McPherson, Augustus McPherson, Stanley McPherson, Eric Wilson, Paul Wilson, and Phillip Knowles.

An additional funeral service will be held at his family's home church at 11:00 a.m, Monday, April 24th, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Chapel, 1770 Johnson Ferry Rd., Marietta, GA with Rev. John Barnes and Rev. Cassie Rapko officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
