EVANS, Ga. - Miss Lucy Mae Moore was born August 21, 1908. She was the second of eight children and grew up on the farm of Calvin Oakland Moore and Eliza Moore in Harlem. Lucy stopped her schooling after the eighth grade to help raise her siblings. She joined the family of Ruby and Alex Mitchell in Chicago in 1940 to help raise their two children, David who resides in Pensacola, FL and Marcia Alton who resides in Augusta. Mr. Mitchell retired and moved the household to Augusta, where Ruby grew up. After Ruby passed, Mr. Mitchell and Lucy retired to Brandon Wilde, where they were among the earliest members. Lucy will be remembered by the many members of Brandon Wilde for her active life, cheerful nature and years of helping others through her service to various local organizations.
