MILLEN, Ga. - Miss Margaret Reynolds, 88, died Sunday, September 16, 2012. She was born in Jenkins County on June 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Thomas Wright and Bessie Hargrove Reynolds and the sister of the late Albert R. Reynolds. She graduated from Millen High School in June 1941. Margaret was a registered nurse anesthetist who began her career in July 1948 following her graduation from St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing in Charleston, South Carolina, with continued education in Tennessee. She worked at several hospitals throughout her career, retiring on November 1, 1986, from Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama, after 28 years of nursing there. Following her retirement she moved back to her family farm in Jenkins County. Margaret had celebrated 48 years in the Order of the Eastern Star, joining the Wilson Williams Chapter 73, Phenix City, Alabama, in March 1964, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1970. Following her move back to Jenkins County, Margaret became affiliated with the Edith Cavell Chapter 193 in Millen, Georgia, in September 2005, serving as Worthy Matron for two years. Margaret was a longtime and faithful member of Green Fork Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Freddie Brinson Sunday School class and the Women s Mission Union (WMU) and sang in the choir. Margaret was a talented seamstress and quilter, an excellent cook and an avid gardener. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the Green Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include her three nieces, Patrice Reynolds Calhoun (Ralph) of North Charleston, SC, Denice Reynolds Rowell (Reggie) of Cross, SC, Melanie Reynolds- Murphy (Jim) of Daniel Island, SC, and a nephew, Kevin Albert Reynolds (Lisa) of North Charleston, SC. She is also survived by eight great nieces and nephews and eight great, great nieces and nephews.
