AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Marie Peters Brown, 86, entered into rest Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Golden Living Center. She made the transition from this earthly home to her heavenly home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 12:00 noon from Rock of Ages C.M.E. Church, 729 Johns Road, Augusta with Reverend Jerry Poole, pastor-officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For many years she was a devoted housekeeper (for a prominent family in Augusta) and a cook (for a priest) at St. Mary's On The Hill Catholic Church. She was a faithful member of Rock of Ages C.M.E. Church, where she served as an Usher, Missionary and Stewardess. Survivors include: seven children, George Raymond Peters, Jr. (Carol), Carolyn Marie Dixon (Lester), Hephzibah, GA, Gertrude Peters Postell, Augusta, Susie Stevens (Jimmie), Evans, GA, Alfred B. Peters (Georgie), Eatonton, GA, Larry T. Peters and Spencer J. Peters, Augusta, GA; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Johnson, Augusta, GA; a loyal cousin, Josephine Harris, Augusta, GA; one godchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Golden Living Center Augusta's health care team, Heartland Hospice, and the physicians involved in her care during her years of illness.
