MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Marlin Sidney Sherman passed away July 26, 2016 at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC. Born in Johnstown, PA, Marlin was a longtime resident of Augusta. He retired to Murrells Inlet, SC, 19 years ago, working at the Myrtle Beach and Golf resort and performing volunteer work with United Way and the Boys Club. Marlin attended schools in West Virginia, first at Concord College, then graduating from the University of Charleston. Afterwards, he served with the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954, and is a member of the VFW and American Legion. He had a long career in Social Services, working for the United Way in Anderson, South Carolina, Waukegan, Illinois and Augusta. Marlin is survived by his wife Betty, as well as his four sons, Michael (Marie) of Avignon, France, Mark (Jenifer) of Pawleys Island, SC, Matthew (Charlotte) of Evans, GA, John (Michele) of Appling, GA and daughter Karin of North Augusta, SC. He is also survived by six loving grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Cadee, Daniel, Matthew and William.
