THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Martha Jane Mather, 76, of Grovetown, and recently Thomson, Georgia, entered into rest March 21, 2016 at Thomson Manor after an extended illness. Mrs. Mather was born in Lincoln County, Georgia to the late Leonard Henslee and the late Ruby Higdon Henslee. She graduated from Thomson High School and served in the United States Air Force. Following her service to the country, she worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut, for many years before moving back to Georgia, where she worked for Columbia County. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mather was predeceased by six sisters. Survivors include a son, R. Kevin Mather (Lisa) and granddaughter, Mikayla Mather, all of Salisbury, North Carolina; a sister, Louise Reeves of Dearing, Georgia; and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Saturday, March 26th, in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia. It is the family's request that memorial contributions be made to the Columbia County Cares Food Pantry. Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia, is in charge.
