AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Mary D. Scott, age 84, wife of Jimmie Scott, Sr., of 140 Scott Simmons Circle, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Old Rosemary Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Curry, Jr., Pastor, Rev. Paul Bush, Eulogist and Rev. Willie Abney, Presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was the daughter of the late James G. Dunn, Sr. and the late Daisy Hall Dunn. Mrs. Scott was born in Beech Island, SC on May 8, 1931. She attended and graduated from Haynes Institute (Lucy C. Laney) in 1948. She was an active member of the Old Rosemary Baptist Church, where she served as the Mother of the Church, Secretary of the Gospel Senior Choir, and taught the Youth Sunday School Class for over 40 years. She and her husband farmed and were vendors of the Aiken County Farmers Market. She is survived by: her husband of 62 years, Deacon Jimmie Scott, Sr. of the home; children, Linda Scott, Sylvia Richburg, Cedric Scott, and Jimmie Randolph (Randy) (Rudnelle) Nell Scott, all of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Scott, Justin Richburg, and Aysha Scott, Aiken, SC; siblings, Leroy (Margaret) Dunn, Rev. Dr. Nathaniel (Mary) Dunn, Daisy Bethea, all of Beech Island, SC, Ruth D. Little, Brooklyn, NY, Elease (Thronell) Mack, Charlotte, NC, and Thomas (Georgia) Dunn, Laurelton, NY; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Henry) Craig and Meta Scott, Aiken, SC; Godchildren, Delores Sims Richardson, Augusta, GA, Anita Renee Frails, Aiken, SC, Christopher M. Lightfoot, North Carolina and Austin Scott, Aiken, SC. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Old Rosemary Baptist Church, 1044 Old Barnwell Road, Montmorenci, SC.
