AUGUSTA, Ga. - Miss Penny "Dee Dee Bugg, 54, beloved daughter of Mr. John Sterling Bugg, Sr. and the late Ruth Braswell Bugg, went home to be with her Heavenly Father surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Augusta University Medical Center. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with the Reverend Mark Maddox officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Miss Bugg was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church, where she was part of the choir for a number of years. Her zeal for life was inspirational to everyone she met. Her humility and endless capacity for love are her legacy. Dee Dee was a very special girl who had Down Syndrome. She participated in the Exceptional Bowling League of the CSRA at the Brunswick Bowling Lanes. Her favorite holiday was Christmas even though pictures of her dressed as a hobo at Halloween lead you to believe otherwise. She loved strawberry sundaes and chocolate covered raisins for her "midnight snacks." At lunch time, she always asked for a Little Debbie "sweet cake." Her love of music accompanied her love for people. Whenever she met someone new, she assigned them a role in her band. Though she never took a lesson, she had a natural talent for every instrument, especially the guitar and the drums. When she played, she'd say "I'm good, ain't I?" She was so much more than good, she was a gift. Other survivors include her brother, John S. Bugg, Jr. and his wife Susan; and her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Phillip Dyches; as well as her nieces and nephews, Michael Bugg, Ruth Gates, Anthony Dyches and Katie Hardesty. If desired, the family requests memorials be made to the Exceptional Bowling League of the CSRA, c/o The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901 or to the National Association for Down Syndrome, 1460 Renaissance Avenue, Suite 405, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Pallbearers will be Nathanael Gates, Stanley Bugg, Michael Bugg, Anthony Dyches, Phillip Dyches and Rustin Hardesty. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
