SYLVANIA, Ga. - Rabun G. Bragg, 82, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Tuesday evening. He was born to the late Annie Mallard and Walter Lee Bragg in Sylvania and was a member of Middle Ground Baptist Church. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a staff sergeant stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, in the US Army. After returning home, he wed the love of his life in November 1954 and then applied his GI Bill and studied diesel engineering at Lindsey Hopkins Technical School. He retired from Deerfield as a specialty paper operator with 34 years of employment. Rabun will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man, who's devotion was to his Lord, his family, and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Alan Bragg, and siblings, Ward Bragg, Anne Morris, Doris Moore, Grace Perkey, Walkie Massey, Rozzie Bragg, and Estelle Avret. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Bowen Bragg; a daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Jerry Boswell; two sons, David Bragg, all of Sylvania and Jonathan R. Bragg of Brunswick; sister, Elise Pool of Tall Timber, MD; grandchildren, Joshua Forehand, Brandon Forehand and Faith Lee Bragg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00am in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Alderman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00am. Interment will follow in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Forehand, Brandon Forehand, Al Lambert, Mickey Lambert, Joe Alloways, and Ronnie Avret. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Dickerson, Jim and Kate Lantz, and Jack Sowell.
