CLEARWATER, S.C. - Mr. Ralph Thompson, 92, husband of sixty-three years to the late Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler Thompson, went home to with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born in Wrens, GA and a resident of Aiken County, SC, most of his life, he was a son of the late Fred and Annie Waldon Thompson. A World War II Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He survived two kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike, while serving aboard the USS Intrepid. Mr. Thompson retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company. He was a dedicated member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class. He enjoyed gardening and fishing with his buddy, Tommy Adams. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include daughters, Connie Byrd and her husband, Steve, and Teena Eubanks and her husband, Russell, all of North Augusta, SC; siblings, the late Eddie Lee Thompson, Cecil Thompson, Oliver Thompson and Lois Arrington; grandchildren, Allen Byrd and his wife, Wendi, Russ Eubanks, Allison Kervin and her husband, Jeff and Tanya Raws; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11 o'clock at Sweetwater Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC, with Dr. Paul Noe and Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating. Mr. Thompson will be placed in the church at 10 o'clock on Saturday. Interment with Veterans Honors accorded by a United States Navy Honor Guard will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Jim Reece, Mike Mock, Tillman Miller, Danny Fincher, Chick Morris and Allen Simmons.
