ATLANTA, Ga. - John Randal Adamson, III, 71, of Atlanta, passed away January 21, 2008. "Johnny" was a devout Christian, born in Detroit, Michigan on September 14, 1936. He embraced the loving grace and acceptance of his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ and now resides in unspeakable glory. He attended the Georgia Military Academy and McCallie School in Chattanooga, graduating in 1954. He then went on to attend Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and graduated in 1958. Johnny was very passionate about his beloved Yellow Jackets and was a true "Ramblin Wreck." Upon graduating from Georgia Tech, he embarked on a career in the banking industry, eventually landing a position with Georgia Railroad Bank and later becoming the President of First Augusta State Bank. In the late 1970's, Johnny and his wife, Sheila, opened Canterbury Antique Reproductions, Ltd., in Atlanta, which specializes in the sale of fine furniture to wholesalers and retailers. Johnny was an excellent "buck dancer" in his day and enjoyed playing golf. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Randal Adamson, Jr. and Louise McCarson Adamson. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Bates Adamson; his three sons, John R. Adamson IV, wife, Dawn Ray Adamson and child, Frances Glenn (7); Robert F. Adamson II, wife, Susan Rice Adamson and children, James Woodruff (12), Emma Clare (4) and Robert Pierce (2); David Goodwin Adamson and child, Conner Elizabeth (13). He is also survived by his brother, William Dodd Adamson, wife, Janice and their two children, Robert and Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Solid Rock of Atlanta, P.O.
