APPLING, Ga. - Mr. Robert "Bob" Allen, beloved husband of Tom O'Neal, entered into rest on Thursday evening, October 20, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in the Platt's Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with the Rev. Rick Rhen Sosbe officiating. Burial will follow at Old Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Allen, a native of Hazard County, Kentucky, was an Army veteran and eventually retired as a manager from Belk's. He was a talented sketch artist, who loved antiques, flea markets and yard sales; as well as old movies, gardening, fishing and camping. He was a loving, loyal and caring man with a playful sense of humor. He was devoted to Tom, his partner of 57 years, who became his husband last year. In addition to his husband, Tom O'Neal, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Clifford "Sonny" O'Neal, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends, too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Pearl Allen; his father and mother-in-law, Gus and Marie O'Neal; and his sister, Jean Shadburn. Pallbearers will be Marc Blanchard, Steve Colombe, Wayne Deas, Daniel Kline, Chuck Mahaffey, Joey New, Lar Petroskey and Glenn Short.
