Bob was preceded in death by his lovely and wonderful wife, Lillian, to whom he was married for 49 years, his parents, Ralph and Helen Deckert; his brother, George R. Deckert; and two great granddaughters, Gabriella (Anthony and Crystal) and Elizabeth Ann (Ashleigh Pangelinan). He is survived by his four wonderful children, David Deckert of Augusta, Dan Deckert (Deb) of Grovetown, Deborah Wilmoth (Tony) of Graniteville and Doug Deckert (Tammy) of Harlem and a brother, Ralph Deckert, Jr. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and his very faithful companion and pet, Trixie. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Ralph and Helen Deckert. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was honorably discharged from The Unites States Army in 1973. He went to work for the Columbia County Board of Education, where he retired in 1993 after 20 years of faithful and dedicated service. Bob was also active in the Grovetown Lions Club for many years and had served on the Grovetown City Council. He and Lillian loved to camp and spent many summers at the Fort Gordon Recreation Area in their retirement years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He'll be missed by many here on earth but was welcomed by so many more in his new Heavenly home. The family would like to thank the fantastic group of people at St. Joseph Hospice. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Augusta Wounded Warrior Project at www.augustawarriorproject.org.
