NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Memorial Services for Mr. Robert Gordon Bob Foster, 78, of Andrews Branch, who entered into rest March 1, 2013, at Georgia Regents Health Center surrounded by his loving family, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. James D. Dennis, Jr. officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Mr. Foster was a native of Memphis, Tennessee, having made North Augusta his home for the past 37 years. He received a BS in Agronomy from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the University of Alabama. Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in the Vietnam War, receiving the bronze star and was a Signal Corps officer and a member of the faculty at the War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Mr. Foster was then employed by the Medical College of Georgia for 21 years, first in the IT department, later as an internal auditor. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Cokesbury Sunday School Class, Acacia Masonic Lodge #315 AFM, a Master Gardener, and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71, where he formerly served as Commander. Mr. Foster was an avid reader and card player, loved history and genealogy, and was a dedicated University of Alabama football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Foster and Geraldine Roberson Foster, sister, Barbara Dollar, his wife of 34 years, Mrs. JoAnn Sikes Foster, and step-daughter, Trenee Lipton. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Gayle Foster; children, Russell Foster (Reid Hoffman) of Washington, D.C, Nancy (Craig) Hannan of Martinez, Tori Weathersby of North Augusta; son- in- law, Matthew Lipton of Charleston, SC; sister, Alice Minton of San Miguel, Mexico; three grandchildren Jacob and Jared Lipton and Taylor Weathersby. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Cokesbury Sunday School Class and members of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. The family will receive friends at the Graveside following the service. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Georgia Regents Medical Center neurology intensive care unit team for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial may be made to the Jesse C.
