METTER, Ga. - Robert Lee Mills, 81, husband of Sarah Ward Mills, died early Monday, August 1, 2016 in Trenton, South Carolina. Born in Candler County, Georgia, he was the son of Wade Lee Mills and Sallie Mae Brown Mills and lived most of his life in the North Augusta area. Mr. Mills was retired from The Savannah River Plant where he worked as a clerk for thirty nine years. He loved coaching little league baseball, football, and basketball in the North Augusta area for many years and was known to many as "Coach". Mr. Mills was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mills was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Lauren Mills. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Ward Mills of Trenton, South Carolina; two sons, Daniel "Danny" Mills and Ronnie Mills (Kimberly Miller) all of Trenton, South Carolina; two brothers, Ray Daniel Mills (Betty Jo) of Metter and Paul Mills of Katie, Texas; two grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Mills of Trenton, South Carolina and Kristofer Mills of Portland, Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Alaina "Sweet Pea" Cassidy Mills of Raleigh, North Carolina and Scarlett Elise Mills of Trenton, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his four legged friend, Jake. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel in Metter. The funeral will be held 11 o'clock Friday in the chapel of Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel in Metter with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery.
