As a highlight of his career, he was honored as a recipient of the top SC Energy Achievement Award on September 14, 1987, and was a winner of the DOE 1987 National Awards Program for Energy Innovations for his contribution to asphalt recycling. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and football, traveling to new places, and visiting with special friends Coleman Buster Smith and Bill Bunny Hubbard. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and avidly followed Georgia Tech football. On April 2nd, 2000, he was thankful recipient number 211 of a transplanted heart at MUSC, where Drs. Crumbley and Van Bakel provided continual support. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
