COLLINS, Ga. - Mr. Rodney "Spud" Pond, age 45, of Collins died Friday, January, 23, 2015 in the Serenity Hospice Place in Dublin after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived most of his life in Augusta before recently moving to Collins. He was a concrete finisher, loved watching bull riding, and attended St. Mark United Methodist Church in Augusta. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lee Pond. Mr. Pond is survived by his parents, Lana and Bill Hester of Collins; his stepmother, Linda Pond of Augusta; two brothers, Carlton Pond and wife Cindy of Vidalia and Eddie Hester and wife Carol of Lyons; paternal grandmother, Sarah E. Montgomery of Augusta; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 26th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Thurmond Norville and Reverend Danny Autry officiating. Burial will follow in the Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
