AUGUSTA, Ga. - Roger Elmer Shurling, 87, husband of Martha Murphy Shurling, entered into rest Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 4, at 11:00 AM from Westview Cemetery. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the graveside. Mr. Shurling, son of the late Roger Gamble and Rosa Tyson Shurling, was born in Harrison, GA. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a truck driver with Brown Transport for 37 years and he attended First Alliance Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Roger Stanley Shurling and his wife, Karen, of Groveland, FL; his daughter, Susan Lynn Lass, of Ft Myers, FL; his brother, Billy E. Shurling, of Thomson; his sister, Mary S. Guthrie, of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Jennifer Roberts, of Naugatuck, CT, and Brynn Lass, of Covington, GA; and his great grandchildren, Asia, Jasmine, Ryland, and Patrick.
