Mrs. Rosa Ella Quiller Butler departed this life Saturday, January 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Graniteville, SC and a resident of Langley, SC. She was born on April 11, 1931, to the late Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Ella Quiller.

Mrs. Butler attended Freedman School and she was a 1949 graduate of Bettis Academy High School and a 1951 graduate of Bettis Academy Junior College, where she was a student athlete. She furthered her studies at Aiken Technical College and studied Real Estate and Paine College. She later became a substitute teacher at Jefferson High School. She also worked as a cloth inspector at Bath Mill for over 20 years and worked for Sears until retirement. She was baptized at an early age at Jacksonville Missionary Baptist Church. She served her church for over 40 years as Church Clerk and Senior Choir President. In addition, she was a member of the Deaconess Board and the Senior Willing Workers Committee.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Quiller, Allen Quiller and Charles Quiller; two sisters, Mamie Adams and Mattie Bell Lyons and her first born son, Wayne Alphonso Butler. Left to continue her legacy are a loving husband of 64 years, Howard R. Butler; two sons, Fred Byron Butler and Timothy (Tamara) Butler; two daughters, Vanessa Jean and Jeraldine Williams; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Butler, Alphonso( Tanya) Butler, Hayward (Starlette) Jean, Howard Jean, Rosa Jean, Barbara Butler, Brittany Butler, Timmy Butler, Trenton Butler and Trey Butler; 9 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Homegoing service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Jacksonville Missionary Baptist Church, 528 Chalk Bed Road, Graniteville, SC with the Rev. Hayward Jean officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call the residence or after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
