THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Sibley Fleming Wheeler, 78, of Lee Street entered into rest May 9, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Wheeler was a native of McDuffie County, GA and the daughter of the late Lon L. Fleming and the late Sarah McLeod Fleming. She graduated from Thomson High School in 1955 and went on to attend Mercer University where she earned a Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Wheeler loved her family and was a faithful and devoted homemaker. She taught the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class and other classes at Thomson First United Methodist Church for many years. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Thomson. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, William M. Wheeler; daughters, Sally Wheeler Phillips ( Tim) of Thomson, GA, Lynn Wheeler Godwin (Charles) of Lake City, SC; sister, Catherine Beadles of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Will Phillips ( Rebeccah), Sarah Ann Phillips, Chase Godwin, Mary Sibley Godwin and great grandchild, Sibley Ruth Phillips. Memorial services will be held at 11 o'clock, a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Thomson with Father Erwin Veale and Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating.
