AUGUSTA, Ga. - On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, God called his beloved child, Thomas Judson Bennett, home from Doctors Hospital in Augusta after a short illness. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. He was born in Augusta, Georgia to the late Thomas and Queen Bennett, reared by the late James and Queen Jones, his grandparents, and his loving aunt, Ida Mae Jones. Mr. Thomas J. Bennett Jr. graduated from C.T. Walker Elementary and Lucy C. Laney High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from South Carolina State University, Masters degree of Education, and Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Georgia Southern University. He also did further study at Augusta State University, Atlanta University and St. Augustine College, Raleigh, N.C. He also attended Crypt school at Ft. Gordon and worked as a Cryptographer at the 7th Army headquarters, Stuttgart, Germany. He also served in the Army reserve (Trans XII USAR Corp). He retired from the Richmond County School System after 38 years. He served as a science teacher and Assistant Principal at John M. Tutt, A.R. Johnson, John Davidson, Sand Bar Ferry, Butler High School and Morgan Road Middle School. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beaulah Bennett; parents, Thomas and Queen Bennett; grandparents, James and Queen Jones; and his beloved aunt, Ida Mae Jones. He leaves to cherish in his memory three sons, Maxmillian Bennett, Fernando and Maurice Bennett; one stepson, Ronnie (Nancy) Beard; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Beard, Rohn Beard, Kimberleigh Beard, Brianna Bennett, Maurice Bennett Jr. Williams Funeral Home, 1765 Martin Luther King Blvd.
