GIRARD, Ga. - Thomas Douglas Mallard, Sr., 71, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his residence. He was born the youngest child to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lillie Mae Mallard on July 27, 1943. Mr. Mallard was a retired truck driver and former owner of the Sears and Roebuck Catalog Store in Waynesboro, Georgia. He was a past member of the Waynesboro Exchange Club and was member of the John C. Carter Camp 207 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Camp awarded him the Compatriot of the Year award in 1999 for his outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Mallard. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Mallard; his sons, Thomas Douglas Mallard, Jr. and wife Evon, Bob Mallard and wife Shelley, Brantley Mallard and wife Jamie; his sisters, Eunice Smith, Kathryn Hunter, Ollie Scoggins; his sister-in-law Edna Mallard; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Botsford Baptist Church with the Reverend Wayne Dixon and Reverend Tom Oliver officiating.
