AUGUSTA, Ga. - Rev. Mrs. Tommie L. Johnson, wife of the late T. Roosevelt Johnson, entered into rest Thursday, May 28, 2015. Rev. Johnson, a native Augustan, graduated from Paine High School, Lamar School of Nursing, and Paine College. She also studied at Eastman School of Music to further her education and Erskine Theological Seminary. She retired from the Richmond County School System as a middle school teacher of science and mathematics. She was an ordained minister and a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she served as Minister of Music for a number of years. Family members include her daughter, Sandra R. Johnson; brother-in-law, Joseph F. Holland; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, Rev. Hardy Bennings III officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
