FARMINGTON, Ga. - Tony Highfield, age 70 of Farmington, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous six year battle with cancer. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church. Tony was the Owner-Operator of Eagle Utility Contracting for 26 years. He had a big heart and loved people. Tony had a way of finding the best in anybody or anything, like finding the one talent in a person no one else could see or bringing an old car or motorcycle back to life for others to enjoy for many more years. Tony loved to make people happy and enjoyed having events and barbecuing for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Marion Porter Highfield; three brothers, Bobby, Harold and Marvin Highfield and two sisters, Betty Nell Perdue and Janice Highfield. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Judy Hardigree Highfield of Farmington; three sons, Tim McElroy (Belinda) of Harlem, Anthony Highfield (Sarah) of Grovetown and Ben Highfield of Athens; three daughters, Lynn Glass (Perry) of Statham, Lane Childs (Frank) of Farmington and Elizabeth Tiffany (Jamey) of Bethlehem; five brothers, Horace Highfield of Statham, Benny Highfield of Blythe, William Highfield of Jefferson, Lamar Highfield of Commerce and Dennis Highfield of Jefferson; a sister, Marion "Sally" Wood of Jefferson; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Stone (Randy), Zach Childs, Cami Grace Glass, Cassi Glass, McKinley Highfield, Ashton Highfield, Delaney Highfield, Bowen Highfield and Amelia Leigh Tiffany and one great-grandchild, Reed Stone. A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM, Thursday, March 10, 2016, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, Ga., with Pastor Charlie Stakely officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 4:00PM the day of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the cancer .
