WILLISTON, S.C. - Funeral services for Vernon Rudolph Bell, 89, of Williston, SC, will be held eleven a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Williston First Baptist Church with Masonic Rites accorded; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery with Military Honors accorded. The Reverends John Moates, Floyd Dukes and Dr. Steve Burnette will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Mr. Bell passed away Friday, February 5, 2016. Born in Aiken County, he was a son of the late Coy M. Bell and Effie Murphy Bell and was married to the late Margaret Boylston Bell. He was a member of White Pond Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent; he later joined Williston First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Bell was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years and served as past master for Hope Masonic Lodge # 126. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany during World War II. He retired as an E & I supervisor with E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Site. Survivors include his daughters, Linda B. (Dan) Moates of Ocala, FL, Sandra B. (Steve) Grooms of Columbia, SC; sons, Dennis (Anne) Bell of Augusta, GA, Glenn (Annette) Bell of Aiken; grandchildren, Ashleigh Moates (Joel) Smith, Lindsey Moates (Beau) Broker, Morgan Grooms, Brittany (Jimmy) Rogers, Thomas (Portia) Bell, Angi Bell Stroud, Bryan (Katelyn) Bell, Benjamin James Bell, Cynthia Anne Bell Eubanks; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Dalton, Londyn, Henry, Justin, Randy, Ashton, Megan, Ross, Jason and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Bell Lau; brothers, Harold Lloyd Bell and Victor Hamilton Bell. Folk Funeral Home, Inc. and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
