EVANS, Ga. - Victor A. Franklin, 56, transitioned peacefully from his earthly home on the second of June 2016 at his residence in Evans, Georgia. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to James and Ethel Franklin. He attended Lutheran schools where he received numerous accolades including "Who's Who," National Merit Scholar and was salutatorian of his graduating class. Later he attended the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctorate degree. He had an outstanding career as a corporate legal advisor serving as the General Counsel for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Chicago, Illinois and 25 plus years as General Counsel with Savannah River Remediation, Savannah River Site, Aiken, South Carolina. Victor was a very kind and loving man. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He was confirmed at the age of 12 by Reverend Otto Thime of Timothy Lutheran Church, Chicago, Illinois. For the past five years he served as an Elder at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Augusta, Georgia. His father (James A. Franklin) preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Stephanie; cherished daughters, Olivia and Natalie Franklin, Orlando, FL; devoted sons, Jonathan Dingle, Dallas, TX and Jordan Dingle, Aiken, SC; granddaughter, Kierstynn Dingle, Dallas, TX; faithful mother, Ethel Franklin, Chicago, IL; caring sister, Karen Franklin, Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Bea (Abe) Thompson, Mesa, AZ; two sisters-in-law, Shonda Bell, Martinez, GA and Tenise Bell, Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, Tony Bell, Tampa, FL; nieces, Kennedy and Kyndall Bunyan, Martinez, GA; the mother of his daughters, Carol Franklin, Orlando, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, June 10th at Tabernacle Baptist Church Family Life Center at 1230 Laney Walker Blvd. in Augusta. The funeral will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 402 Aumond Road in Augusta at 2pm on Saturday, June 11th. Mausoleum entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, SC immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the Salvation Army at 322 Gayle Avenue NW, Aiken SC 29802 or to the memorial fund at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 402 Aumond Road, Augusta, GA 30909.
